Some History

 

• Abacus is a Latin word of Greek word 'Abax' or 'Abakon' means table or tablet . It's a tool used centuries before modern numerical system . Now, widely used by merchants, traders and clerks mainly in Asia, Africa, U.S.A and elsewhere . Abacus was developed in China . The user of  Abacus is called Abacist . Countries like Japan and China, teach Abacus in primary schools as part of Mathematics .

 

• Can you imagine a time without numbers ? Yes, there was such a time when men counted smaller numbers with fingers . For larger numbers they depended on stones, twigs and tying knots . Slowly, counting machines were invented to count large  numbers . Abacus became one among them . In all other mathematical instruments, everything is fed . But in Abacus, nothing is fed . As brain power is required for calculating in Abacus, Abacists are experts andd can solve problems faster than a modern digital calclulator
